Another rabbit show

Today we took the motorhome out for it's first show of the season. I am always relieved when it makes it to our point in destination. It did not fail us this time, either way. There was a better turn out than I anticipated with about 15 English Angoras entered. Although none of my rabbits won the breed it was still a successful show. Farrah took a first in her class, Edie won Best Opposite Sex of Variety, and itty bitty Armando won Best Opposite Sex of Breed beating out senior rabbits. That was huge!

Lovely Farrah still searching for that elusive third leg to make her a grand champion.
She did take a first in senior white does.

Armando waiting to be judged.

Armando being judged by Ron Rohrig.

The winners!

Desk duty again

Armando was not happy to know he wasn't featured on Easter Sunday. He does his best to run the desk and that's the thanks he gets! Here he is hanging out with Trouble. She does her best to ignore him.

"Hey are you sleeping?"

He finds a comfortable spot to hang out.

Happy Easter!

The child in me came out today. I dyed Easter eggs to go with the candy the Easter bunny left me! Happy Easter to everyone...

Angus

Meet Angus. I don't think I have blogged about him before but my mother always told me if you don't have anything nice to say about someone you shouldn't say anything at all. Just kidding, Angus. I will accentuate the positive. Give me a minute.... Ummm.... Well, let's see.... He's ummm.... Well.... OK, here's something, he's really good when he is sleeping!

He is QUITE playful, not easily discouraged, likes to pee where he shouldn't, and water is his cryptonite. Fortunately, he is an awesome snuggler.

More show pics...

The top picture is the building in which the show was held on Sunday. Although it is warm and well lit it is a very small building and they don't allow for chairs or grooming tables. Fortunately, Angoras were up first thing so it wasn't too bad.

John and I are chronically early people so at the time these pictures were taken only a few people had arrived. In the second picture the buns want to know, "Where's the judge?"

The third picture is of Edie and Gabrielle just hanging out getting a look at the competition.

In the non rabbit related category, Bill got to come along for the ride. Bill's thinks EVERY day is a good day for a car ride and today he was not disappointed. He didn't get to come in and see the rabbits (they would have scared him anyways) but he was happy for a change of scenary.

And finally, for whom these rabbit shows would not be possible we have John doing what he does best, he is the master packer! I have driven from Ohio to California and back with John and he excels at loading a vehicle. Although rabbit shows don't present much of a challenge he is certain there is a science to this so I leave it up to him. Lucky for my back!

Show time!

Fortunately, Spring is here which means better weather for rabbit shows. John and I packed up the six buns and we were ready to do some winning. The top photo shows Farrah waiting to be judged. Although I thought she looked very nice she did not get the elusive last 'leg' that I was hoping for but instead it went to her daughter Edie which is really not a loss at all as Edie needs 'legs' too. At just 12 weeks of age I would say that was a very good win.

Armando is in the second picture doing his best to acquire best opposite sex of breed. he is quite squeezable!

The third photo is judge Bob Swartz going over Too Sexy debating whether he should give her best of breed which he did. That makes the 8th Best of Breed since I have purchased Too Sexy.

More pictures tomorrow...

Bill's wheels

The month of February has not been kind to us or our animals. Shortly after Rambo passed away Bill developed a vertebrae problem making him unable to walk. Due to the fact that Bill is 100 lbs. this complicates the issue even more. I don't have it in me at this time to euthanize another dog, especially one that still has a good quality of life, so have purchased Bill a dog wheel chair. The things people come up with! Our vet happened to have a set of wheels for a dog the size of Bill so while we wait for his very own to come in, we have a loaner pair. Bill was actually quite excited to get around in this contraption once he figured it out. My back was thrilled too! I have seen on the internet where they can make these even for rabbits. Now all we need is warmer, dry weather so Bill can really get around.

Show pictures

A good time was had by all at Sunday's show. The buns did well for their first time out. They are still too young to do much winning but Edie placed first out of all three girls in both shows so I guess she is my best junior doe at this point. Armando had a close call with Best Opposite Sex of Breed in the first show so I look forward to seeing how he does as he grows a bit more. Farrah got a leg (that's good) in the first show and Too Sexy won Best of Breed in both shows. Yeah for Too Sexy!!

Too Sexy the winner!

It's been eons..

Well, if there is still anybody out there perusing my blog you will be happy to see an update. Unfortunately, things have not been going well in the health department of the Varvir-Reilly household but hopefully we are turning a corner and can get back to happier rabbit related things. Tomorrow is the buns first rabbit show! In preparation we have taken some pre-show photos..

Here are the girls and you-know-who which no picture would be complete without. Honestly, I do not put this cat in the picture. He has been known to insert himself in the middle of dog groom if he feels the need. Perhaps I should enter him in the show?

Hopefully, this will be my big winner tomorrow. Too Sexy is in her prime and is ready to knock 'em dead. Stay tuned for show results....
