How precious

I got a cryptic message from my brother that he had found 'something.' Of course I called and the last thing I expected was this! Apparently this little orphan turned up in his yard so he directed it back to the woods thinking it would eventually find it's mama. A day later he woke up to his new friend 'calling' him outside his bedroom window. It was wet from rain and shivering and still no mom in site so he took it in. He was able to locate a rescue organization the next morning who is now caring for the little guy.

Isn'the darling?

No Bunnies:(

Unfortunately, I do not have new bunnies to brag about. Too Sexy was indeed pregnant, however, she had one bun on the wire that probably was born dead and the other required a trip to the vet to come out. It did not make it either. So it goes with breeding...
I will have to live vicariously through the wild bunny nest in the backyard. It is the third this year! Pictures to come...
Once Too Sexy recuperates, we will try again.

Dye pot

While I anxiously awaited the arrival of baby bunnies (hopefully) I played mad scientist in the kitchen. I LOVE to dye fiber! I pulled out all my vices ie. Kool-aid, Wilton's cake decorator dye, and some commercial stuff. The posibilities are so overwhelming I never know which direction I am headed in so I keep my mind open to whatever I get. Of course, I always seem to want some element of pink so anything short of that would be dissapointing.

Here's the scene of the crime.

Double bubble, boil and trouble! I added two custard dishes with Wilton's dye and stuffed a portion of the skein in each. In the pot is the fusia commercial dye. I was thrilled with the way the colors bled together. I get a little worried at this point since there is no turning back. Fortunately, I liked it.

Oh so pretty!

A side note, this skein of angora is made from 'seconds' or the stuff that most people would throw away. It is mostly matted fiber from the rabbits belly and legs. I really enjoy spinning it because it spins up faster than the 'good' stuff and has a lot of character with lumps and bumps. It does have a slightly cottony feel but is still quite soft.

Is she or isn't she?

Too Sexy has been very busy lately in what appears to be an attempt at pre-nest making. Here, she has her mouth full of cardboard bits looking for just the right place to put them. I am hoping this is a sign that she is 'with bunnies.'

Another nest

We were shocked to see that another group of bunnies has occupied the last nest in the backyard. While I was out doing some yardwork I checked on the progress of this little family. I was shocked to see them all exposed so I grabbed my camera and took this shot. Shortly thereafter, all buns went on their merry way!
I hope to have some domestic bunny news of my own around May 21. Stay tuned...

Time to groom...

Morty the cat takes grooming time very seriously. Too bad he only grooms himself and not the rabbits!
